Questions.
What people ask before their first bottle, answered plainly.
- What is perfume in oil, and how is it different from a spray?
- A spray carries its scent in alcohol. The alcohol flashes off in the first minutes and throws the fragrance into the air around you. Sea Aura is carried in oil, with no alcohol at all. It stays on the skin rather than in the air, opens slowly, and is noticed by the people close to you rather than the whole room.
- How do I apply it?
- Start with clean, dry skin. A little unscented lotion first helps the oil hold.
- Lift the stopper. Its glass wand carries exactly enough; let any excess run back into the bottle.
- Touch the wand to a pulse point: the inside of each wrist, the base of the throat, behind the ears.
- Let it settle. Do not rub your wrists together; your own warmth does the rest.
- How much should I use?
- Less than you think. Start with a small drop at one or two pulse points, then adjust to your preference. The scent is meant to be found by the people beside you, not announced. If you want it back later in the day, one drop at a single wrist is enough.
- How long does it last?
- Wear time varies with your skin, how much you apply and the conditions of the day. There is no fixed number of hours we can promise. Start with a small amount and reapply if you want to refresh the scent.
- Which scent is for me?
- Velvet Rose Oud combines rose, oud, sandalwood and amber: warm, romantic and sophisticated, especially for evenings and special occasions. White Lotus Royale combines white lotus, jasmine, sandalwood and musk: clean, elegant and peaceful, suited to daytime, weddings and quiet rituals. If you wear scent to be noticed at dinner, start with the rose. If you wear it for yourself through the day, start with the lotus. Still unsure? Write to us and tell us what you usually wear; we will answer personally.
- Can I return it if the scent is not for me?
- Every bottle is sealed for the person who ordered it, and fragrance worn on skin cannot be passed on to anyone else, so we are not able to take bottles back or offer refunds once an order has shipped. We would much rather help you choose well before you buy: the answers above describe how each scent wears, and a note to us gets a personal reply. If a bottle ever arrives damaged, we replace it; see the shipping page.
- Can I wear both?
- Yes, and they were made with that in mind. Lotus in the morning, rose in the evening over what remains, or one on each wrist. The pair is the two bottles together for exactly this.
- Is it safe for sensitive skin?
- Both scents are alcohol-free, which many people with dry or reactive skin prefer. They still contain natural fragrance materials. Before the first full wear, put a small amount on the inside of the forearm and wait 24 hours. If the skin reddens or itches, stop, and write to us; we will help. If you are pregnant, allergy-prone or under a doctor’s care, see the next question.
- Is it safe during pregnancy, or with allergies or a health condition?
- Both scents are alcohol-free and made with natural fragrance materials, and natural materials such as rose, jasmine and oud can still set off a fragrance allergy. So we keep it simple and honest. If you are pregnant or nursing, have a known allergy to fragrance or essential oils, have asthma or a skin condition, or are under a doctor’s care, please ask your doctor or midwife before wearing any perfume, ours included. For everyone: do the 24-hour patch test described above before the first full wear, keep the oil away from the eyes, lips and broken skin, keep the bottle out of children’s reach, and stop if the skin reddens, itches or feels wrong. It is for external use only. If you react to particular materials, tell us what they are and we will say plainly whether a scent is for you.
- Will it mark clothes or jewelry?
- Wear it on skin, not fabric. Oil can leave a mark on silk, cashmere and pale linen, and it is best kept off pearls. Let the drop settle for a minute before a sleeve or a collar touches it, to reduce transfer.
- How should I store the bottle?
- Somewhere cool, out of direct sunlight, with the stopper seated. Heat and light are what change a fragrance over time. A dresser suits it better than a bathroom shelf. Keep the bottle tightly closed between uses.
- When will my order ship, and can I track it?
- Every order ships by USPS, and US shipping is free. You will get three emails: one when your payment is confirmed, one with the tracking number when the carrier makes its first scan, and one when the parcel is delivered. Details are on the shipping page.
- Do you ship outside the US?
- Not yet. We ship to every US address, including Alaska, Hawaii and PO boxes. If you would like a bottle sent abroad, tell us on the contact page and we will write when that changes.
- Can I send it as a gift?
- Yes. Enter the recipient’s address at checkout. The box carries no price, and the confirmation and tracking emails come to you, not to them. If you would like a note included, mention it on the contact page after ordering and quote your order reference.
- Do you sell to shops?
- We do. Use the contact form, tell us about the shop and roughly how many bottles you have in mind, and we will reply by email with terms.
